SMS Terms

Effective date: May 14, 2026 · Last updated: May 14, 2026

1. The Ekkle SMS Programs

Ekkle (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Ekkle church community platform at ekkle.app. As part of that platform we operate two separate SMS (text messaging) programs, each with its own opt-in:

  • Account Security & Notifications — transactional messages sent only when triggered by your own account activity (for example, two-factor verification codes when you sign in, security alerts, and billing-failure alerts for church administrators). You opt in to this program by adding your mobile number to your Ekkle profile and, where applicable, enabling two-factor authentication.
  • Ekkle Church Broadcasts — informational messages from a church that uses Ekkle (announcements, prayer requests, event reminders). You opt in to this program separately, either by submitting the opt-in form at meet.ekkle.app/sms or a church-specific opt-in page, by completing a written sign-up form or connection card with that church, or by texting that church's published opt-in keyword to its Ekkle SMS number.

Consent to receive Ekkle Church Broadcasts is not a condition of purchase or of using any Ekkle service. Adding your phone number to your Ekkle profile (for example, for two-factor authentication) does not, by itself, opt you in to Ekkle Church Broadcasts. Opting out of broadcasts does not stop transactional Account Security messages, and vice versa.

These SMS Terms govern your participation in both programs and supplement our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

2. Message Categories and Examples

  • Account verification and two-factor authentication. Example: “Your Ekkle verification code is: 123456.”
  • Platform and billing alerts. Example: “Ekkle: Your church's subscription payment failed. Please update your billing details.”
  • Church broadcasts. Announcements, prayer requests, event reminders, and similar messages composed by your church. Example: “First Church: Reminder — prayer service tonight at 7pm. Reply STOP to opt out.”

3. Message Frequency

Message frequency varies. Two-factor codes are sent only when triggered by your account activity. Platform alerts are sent only when a service event applies to you. Church broadcast frequency is set by each individual church and may range from a few messages per month to several per week.

4. Message and Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply. Ekkle does not charge you for SMS, but your mobile carrier's standard messaging and data rates apply to every message sent to or from your phone. Check with your carrier for details.

5. HELP

Reply HELP to any Ekkle SMS message to receive a short help reply. You can also email support@ekkle.app for assistance with the Ekkle SMS Program.

6. STOP / Opt-Out

You can opt out of any church's SMS broadcasts at any time by replying STOP (or UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, or QUIT) to a message from that church's Ekkle SMS number. We will record your opt-out and stop sending broadcasts to that number from that church. To re-subscribe, reply START (or YES or UNSTOP) to the same number.

Opting out of broadcast messages does not stop transactional account-security SMS such as two-factor authentication codes. To stop those, remove your phone number from your Ekkle profile or disable two-factor authentication.

7. Your Mobile Information Is Not Sold or Shared for Marketing

Mobile information (phone numbers and SMS opt-in data) will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We share the minimum information necessary with our SMS delivery provider (Twilio) and with mobile carriers solely to transmit the messages you have opted in to receive. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

8. Carriers and Delivery

Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery of SMS messages depends on factors outside of Ekkle's control, including but not limited to network availability and carrier filtering.

9. Eligible Devices and Carriers

The Ekkle SMS Program is available to subscribers of most major U.S. mobile carriers. Supported devices include any handset capable of receiving standard SMS messages. We may add or remove carrier or device support at any time without notice.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these SMS Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the Ekkle app or by SMS.
